On Tuesday 23rd November Dr Stephens, a famous biologist, came to Hayes, the day before he was due to return to Tasmania, to raise awareness of his work on Tasmanian devils and the strange cancer they are dying from, he talked to around 30 Year 11’s, 12’s and 13’s studying Biology and gave us an insight into his very interesting job. He gave a speech on what he has been doing in Tasmania, and asked us how we would respond to the problem of the cancer which is spread by the devils biting each other! He also explained that we will have opportunities to raise money to fund his project to stop the spread of the cancer as students in other parts of the world have been doing. His speech was very interesting and the Tasmanian devils were incredibly cute! I would like to thank Dr Stephens for giving us this opportunity to learn about his work and biology in the working world.
