Keston School Documentary
The first week after Christmas saw the start of Health Week at Keston CE Primary School. As part of our specialist status we decided to help Year 5 make a documentary of all the events that were happening at their school. We lent them a video camera and tripod and spent some time showing the pupils how to frame and light their shots. We also talked about how to compile a news report and conduct interviews. The pupils then had the camera to film as much as they could of the activities and interview some of the people who came in to talk to them. The following week we went back with lights and cameras to film their ‘studio’ pieces, the presenters who would link all the news reports together. Two weeks later we went back to the school to show them how to edit their footage, picking the best bits and adding titles and sound effects to make the final DVD. The pupils loved the project and are very proud of their efforts.
