As part of their AS coursework the Year 12 Textiles students visited The Keeping Gallery in Shortlands last week. The gallery was set up by Renate Keeping to exhibit her and her husbands, Charles Keepings’, work. We were particularly interested in Renate Keepings’ textiles work. There is a rich collection on handmade work which is largely an autobiographical. The students commented that they were stunned by the quality and quantity of the collection. I ampleased to say that the students left the gallery inspired and enthused by this amazing ladies work.
